Every year our top fundraisers follow the same playbook. It's not magic — it's consistency, personal connection, and starting early. Here's what actually works.

  • ✓ Start early — launch your fundraising page as soon as you're accepted
  • ✓ Send personal emails to 25 close contacts (not just a group blast)
  • ✓ Share YOUR story — why does MSK's work matter to you personally?
  • ✓ Post consistently on social media (weekly updates, training photos)
  • ✓ Set up a fundraising thermometer and share your progress
  • ✓ Ask your employer about matching donation programs
  • ✓ Host a small fundraising event — a backyard cookout, happy hour, or dinner
  • ✓ Send thank-you notes to every donor — people give again when appreciated

Common questions answered by team veterans who've been through it all.

All accepted team members get a personal fundraising page through Fred's Team's fundraising portal. Tom will walk you through setup during onboarding. It takes about 5 minutes.
Start the day you're accepted! Early fundraising momentum makes the rest of the year much easier. Aim to raise 30% of your goal in the first 2 weeks.
Yes! Most donors need 2–3 touches. A personal follow-up one month after your initial ask often converts people who meant to donate but forgot.
Post training updates with a link to your donation page. Training selfies, long run recaps, and personal cancer stories all perform well. Use #FredsTeam and tag @fredsteammark.
Many major employers match charitable donations. Check with your HR department — this can double your impact. Some companies match 2:1 or even 3:1.
Talk to us early! We work with every team member to reach their goal. We have a team fundraising event strategy that helps members who are short. We've never let a team member fall short who stayed engaged.
